Chief Minister Vijay on Friday issued temporary government appointment orders to 31 people from families that lost members in the Karur crowd-crush incident linked to a public meeting he attended on September 7, 2025.

The incident had claimed 41 lives. Vijay visited Karur for the first time since then, after becoming Chief Minister, and addressed a public interaction meeting attended by around 5,000 people at a private college sports ground near Vennamalai.

After the meeting, he took part in a roadshow and later attended a welfare assistance distribution event and a review meeting with officials at the Collectorate.

During the visit, he laid the foundation stone at Manavasi panchayat for a private non-leather footwear manufacturing unit by Evergreen Kothari, with an investment of Rs 1,700 crore. The project is expected to generate employment for about 13,000 people.

He also provided a relief assistance of Rs 10 lakh to Shanthi from Erode district, as reported.
