Karur meeting: anti-corruption message

Chief Minister Vijay, speaking at a public interaction event in Karur, urged citizens not to pay bribes. He said that if any official demands money, people should refuse and assert that it is “Vijay’s government,” assuring them of his support.

Claims of action on past corruption

Vijay alleged that individuals who committed corruption during the previous DMK regime would be “caught one after another.” He said his government had already identified and cancelled certain tenders, including one related to a bridge project in Chennai that he claimed was priced far above normal costs.

Two months of governance and new announcements

The Chief Minister said that within two months his administration had created a situation where government offices function without even a “single paisa” of corruption, with faster work and better treatment for the public. He also listed initiatives announced by his government, including three projects worth Rs 8,600 crore involving L&T, a Rs 134 crore Kuruvai special package, the “Singappen” rapid-response force, and the “Thaymaman Thanga Modhiram” scheme.

Karur incident and memorial plan

Referring to a painful incident in Karur, Vijay said the episode and the alleged political conspiracy behind it should be recorded for future generations. He announced that a memorial would be set up in Karur on behalf of his party, and reiterated that his government had ended the culture of paying money for votes.
