An Indian embassy official in Dhaka has received widespread appreciation on social media after she objected to an incorrect map of India shown during a seminar in Bangladesh.

The seminar, held in Dhaka under the theme “Rebuilding Trust, Renewing Regional Integration: Pathways to Revitalise SAARC,” was attended by Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid, former Bangladesh envoy to India Ahmed Tariq Karim, and India’s Second Secretary at the embassy, Pooja Kumari Jha.

During his presentation, Karim displayed slides that included a map in which Jammu & Kashmir was not shown as part of India and instead appeared within Pakistan’s map. Jha immediately raised an objection, stating that the map was incorrect and reiterating India’s position that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of the country.

Karim responded that the map was used only for specific purposes and did not represent actual borders. Jha said she understood the point but maintained that Jammu & Kashmir had been wrongly depicted and that she wanted to flag it.

A video of the exchange has been circulating widely online, with many users praising Jha for asserting India’s long-standing stance during the event.
