The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has warned that maximum temperatures may rise by 2–4°C at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from July 12 to 16.
In its bulletin, the weather office said isolated rainfall was recorded in Tamil Nadu, with the highest rainfall of 1.9 cm reported at Chinnakallar in Coimbatore district.
For the Western Ghats region, light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds is likely at a few places. In the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, dry weather is expected to prevail, though light rain may occur at isolated locations.
The RMC also noted that between July 12 and 14, high temperatures combined with high humidity could cause discomfort at a few places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
For Chennai, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature may hover around 38–39°C and the minimum around 28–29°C, with heat-related discomfort likely.
