Veteran playback singer P. Susheela has released a video message condoling the death of renowned singer S. Janaki, saying there is no other singer who can be compared to her.
S. Janaki, 88, passed away on Friday at a hospital in Mysuru, according to reports. Her death has drawn tributes from across the music fraternity.
In her message, Susheela said Janaki had sung every kind of song and remained unparalleled, especially in Tamil. She added that singers of Janaki’s calibre are rare today.
Susheela also recalled having worked with Janaki for a period and called it a matter of good fortune. Referring to the song “Singaara Velane Deva,” she said it was a number that, in her view, no one could render the way Janaki did.
Concluding her tribute, Susheela prayed for Janaki’s soul to attain peace and remembered her as a revered presence in music.
