Chennai: Even after a recent reconciliation between PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss and party president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, the party has slipped back into internal discord, with Anbumani reportedly unwilling to accept the roles of Srikanti and PMK honorary president G.K. Mani.

The latest round of tension follows the public clash between Ramadoss and Anbumani at the party’s general council in Puducherry on December 28, 2024. After that episode, both leaders functioned separately and even faced each other during the recently concluded Assembly election.

Anbumani-led PMK, which contested as part of the AIADMK alliance, won four seats. Subsequently, on June 24—Ramadoss’ 61st wedding anniversary—Anbumani visited the Thailapuram garden in Tindivanam with his family, sought his father’s blessings, and the reunion drew attention within the party.

However, it is said that Ramadoss’ elder daughter Srikanti, G.K. Mani and former MLA Arul were not in favour of handing over full control of the party and associated organisations to Anbumani. A state-level meeting of PMK office-bearers scheduled at Thailapuram was later hit by controversy after invitations were sent to general secretary Murali Shankar and others, while Srikanti—appointed as working president by Ramadoss—and a few others were not invited.

Citing this, Murali Shankar and other Ramadoss supporters announced they would boycott the meeting. Amid the confusion, Anbumani cancelled the state office-bearers’ meeting, triggering fresh buzz within the party despite the father-son patch-up.
