Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has introduced a new scheme offering chicken biryani for Rs 99 at select TTDC restaurants, even as eateries across the state have raised prices due to higher LPG cylinder and commodity costs.
TTDC Managing Director Jayaseelan said the Rs 99 meal will include 450–500 grams of chicken biryani served with brinjal gravy and curd-onion. The initiative aims to attract more customers to TTDC outlets while providing quality food at an affordable price.
The scheme is being rolled out in the first phase at chosen TTDC restaurants. Based on customer response, TTDC plans to expand the offer to other food items as well.
He added that the corporation is managing costs and maintaining quality through efficient procurement, standardised recipes and improved kitchen operations.
In the initial rollout, the Rs 99 biryani is available at 21 TTDC restaurants in Hosur, Ranipet, Ooty, Coimbatore, Kodaikanal, Chidambaram and Tirunelveli. TTDC expects sales of about 4,200 plates under the scheme.
