At the first conference of the ‘We The Leaders’ organisation near Pollachi, BJP leader K. Annamalai said Tamil Nadu would witness another change of government in 2031. He addressed participants at an anti-drug awareness programme held at Achipatti.
Annamalai said the gathering reflected hope and expectations, and stressed that the platform was not built around posts or positions. He described himself as a “chief servant” and said those who joined the movement did not come seeking roles.
Explaining the idea behind the organisation launched on June 5, he said it aimed to encourage individuals to identify social problems and participate in solutions, rather than waiting for the government alone to act. He noted that volunteers had been going door-to-door for a month to speak about the July anti-drug awareness campaign.
He claimed that within 38 days of its launch, the organisation had crossed 19 lakh members, adding that he had not personally called or invited people to join. He said the movement belonged to the people and urged members to grow it through visible social work such as anti-drug outreach, women’s safety efforts and youth welfare initiatives.
