New Delhi: The Union government has dismissed a report in an international media outlet claiming that India–US trade negotiations have hit a deadlock.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said the report was “false, baseless and misleading,” adding that the bilateral trade agreement is close to completion and that a large portion of the work has already been finalised.
According to Goyal, talks to conclude the deal are continuing at full pace. He also described his recent meeting in Delhi with the US Trade Representative as “excellent.”
He said both countries remain committed to a fair and balanced agreement that benefits both sides, including industry, agriculture and consumers.
Separately, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal also clarified that there has been no obstacle in the ongoing negotiations.
