A senior revenue inspector working at the Kallakurichi taluk office has been suspended after being arrested on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 for recommending a patta transfer.
According to the complaint, Kudavan Shareef (49), an electrician from Prithivimangalam in Kallakurichi district, had applied a few days ago for uploading his house-site details in the computer system and for transferring the patta in his name.
The accused, identified as Aaron (31), son of Xavier from Eraiyur, allegedly demanded Rs 2,500 to recommend the issuance of the patta. Based on the complaint, officials from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing conducted an operation and provided chemically treated currency notes to the complainant.
Aaron was allegedly caught red-handed by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police while receiving the money and was arrested two days ago. Following the arrest in the bribery case, the District Revenue Officer has ordered his suspension.
