Underground sewer work is under way at Kannappasamy Nagar in Kavangarai, near Puzhal in Chennai. As part of the project, a pit was being set up and iron rods were brought to the site using a crane.
According to reports, Vignesh was passing through the area with his three-year-old son, Sharuk, when the belt securing the bundle of iron rods snapped. The rods reportedly fell during the lift, leading to the child’s death.
Following the incident, police arrested three people, including a contract manager, on allegations of negligence in handling the work.
The case is being investigated further.
