We The Leaders founder Annamalai is focusing on the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, with his supporters indicating that a formal political party may take up to two years to be launched.

After exiting the BJP, Annamalai has started the organisation “We The Leaders”. A conference under its banner was held recently in Pollachi, where he avoided direct criticism of both the ruling TVK and the opposition DMK.

Instead, he said the TVK government’s ministers are new and may falter initially, and argued they should be supported rather than pressured. He added that he would not criticise the TVK government for a year.

Annamalai also expressed confidence that in 2031 his political party would stand before the people of Tamil Nadu and receive their support. His supporters said he does not intend to contest by-elections, local body polls or Lok Sabha elections, and is building the organisation first.

According to them, his plan is to begin training 1.5 lakh youth from October 15 within a year, and then use that network to enrol more than 50 lakh members in the following year. They added that he is waiting for public dissatisfaction with the government before stepping up criticism, and that his pace will increase after the party is formally launched.
