A complaint has been submitted to the Coimbatore Police Commissioner seeking steps to prevent the publication of a book that allegedly carries false statements against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The book, titled “I, an RSS Brahmin, became a Periyarist”, is scheduled for release on July 17. It is authored by Nalankilli, whose original name is said to be Krishnasamy Thyagarajan. The book is understood to describe the author’s experiences of growing up in a Brahmin family, being associated with the RSS, and later being influenced by Periyar’s ideas.

Advocate Shanmugam, who filed the complaint, stated that he has been a lawyer and an RSS member for over 30 years. In his petition, he alleged that the author is not an RSS member and has no authority to use the organisation’s name to publish what he described as false, incorrect and defamatory content.

The complaint further claims the book contains insulting and derogatory remarks that could harm the RSS’s reputation among the public. The petitioner has sought an immediate inquiry and requested that the author, publisher, printer and others linked to the release be directed to submit relevant documents, including the manuscript.

He has also urged the police to initiate legal action if any offence is found during the inquiry and to take steps to protect the organisation’s name and standing.
