DMK president M.K. Stalin has urged the new government to continue the archaeological excavations initiated during the DMK’s tenure, saying they are vital to safeguarding and taking Tamil historical traces to the world.
In a statement, Stalin said the evidence of Tamil antiquity that continues to emerge must be protected, and that historical truth should be established despite any obstacles.
He alleged that at a time when Tamil history and culture are being belittled, distorted and diverted through “revisionist” narratives, tangible proof of Tamil antiquity is coming to light. He cited findings linked to Keezhadi, Porunai and the antiquity of iron.
Stalin also said more such sites—hidden beneath the soil and even in the deep sea—should be brought to the surface, and argued that the history of the Indian subcontinent should be written beginning from the South.
He added that such efforts would not only instil pride in history but also provide strength to shape a new historical understanding grounded in evidence.
