Hyderabad police have registered a case against a sub-inspector after a video surfaced showing his six-year-old granddaughter driving a car while he sat in the front passenger seat.
The officer, identified as Poojari Tripathi, is posted as an SI in Hyderabad City Police. The incident reportedly took place on the evening of July 11 on the busy Gandamguda–Bairagiguda road in the Narsingi suburban area.
According to reports, the child drove the vehicle slowly, leading to heavy traffic congestion. Other motorists stopped the car and questioned the situation.
When asked, the girl reportedly said she would drive because her grandfather is an SI. As arguments escalated, Tripathi claimed it was an automatic car and that he had full control, before moving to the driver’s seat.
After the clip spread rapidly on social media, police booked the SI and seized the car.
