Veteran leader K. Kamaraj, remembered for his enduring place in Tamil Nadu’s political history, is being commemorated on July 15, observed as Education Development Day.

Marking Kamaraj’s 124th birth anniversary, Chief Minister Vijay paid homage by offering flowers at Kamaraj’s statue in Chennai. Ministers Anand, Aadhav, Sengottaiyan and Rajmohan were among those present.

Leaders also shared messages on social media to remember Kamaraj’s legacy. In a post, Annamalai, leader of the ‘We The Leaders’ organisation, described Kamaraj as a symbol of simplicity and public service.

Annamalai highlighted Kamaraj’s focus on ensuring education for all, citing the creation of thousands of schools and support for poor children’s education through the midday meal scheme. He also said Kamaraj prioritised public welfare over office and helped lay foundations for industrial and agricultural growth in Tamil Nadu.

Dinamalar reported that the tribute event was streamed live on its website and YouTube channel.
