Thousands of documents related to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tirunelveli district have allegedly surfaced on the dark web, raising concerns over the exposure of sensitive project information.

A hacker group calling itself “World Leaks” has claimed it uploaded around 19,000 documents. The report says the data was stolen from Reliance Group, which is involved in construction work for Units 3 and 4 of the plant.

According to the information cited, the theft is part of a larger pool of about 8,58,000 documents, from which the most significant 19,000 were taken. Reliance said some information was stolen from a server managed by a third-party firm and that the government has been informed, but it declined to specify what exactly was leaked.

The leaked files are said to include records stored between 2016 and May 2025, such as ventilation and cooling system details, general control room layouts, instrument inspection information, supplier lists and insurance policies. The report adds that core reactor design details supplied by Russia’s state-owned Rosatom are not part of the leaked material.

India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) is conducting an investigation in coordination with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), the report said.
