Several functionaries of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), founded by actor Kamal Haasan, have joined K Annamalai’s organisation ‘We The Leaders’ in Chennai.
The move was led by Balamurugan, MNM’s South Chennai West district secretary. Area secretaries Suresh and Mugilan were among those who shifted to the new organisation.
According to the report, MNM did not contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election or the 2026 Assembly election. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan secured a Rajya Sabha MP post with the support of the DMK.
The developments have reportedly triggered dissatisfaction within MNM, with more members leaving the party. On Monday, the group met Karu Nagarajan, a key functionary of ‘We The Leaders’, and formally joined the organisation.
