Meeting in Salem

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami held discussions with party functionaries at an AIADMK office near Omalur in Salem district. Speaking to reporters later, he dismissed talk of an AIADMK–DMK alliance as a “fabricated story.”

Criticism of the government

Palaniswami questioned whether “clean governance” was prevailing in Tamil Nadu and alleged that those accused of wrongdoing were joining the ruling side. He also criticised Chief Minister Vijay, claiming the government was being run on borrowings.

On alliances and party leadership

Referring to the Chief Minister’s earlier remarks that “Dravidian parties are not good,” Palaniswami said parties that were earlier part of a Dravidian alliance were now supporting the TVK government. He said he had consistently spoken about what he called the DMK’s wrongdoings, including when he served as Leader of the Opposition.

Remarks on rivals and Mekedatu

He responded to former AIADMK members who alleged “dominance” by the party leadership, asking whether they did not notice it before winning positions. He also hit back at Tamil Nadu Congress leader Manickam Tagore’s comment that AIADMK had “collapsed,” saying the Congress itself was in a poor state.

Palaniswami further alleged that the TVK government had created confusion among delta farmers by moving a separate Assembly resolution against the Mekedatu dam and announcing a tribunal. He also criticised the appointment of advisers, alleging that those who helped Vijay were being given such roles.
