Spain booked a place in the World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in the first semi-final played in Washington.

The match began at a high tempo, with both sides pushing for an early breakthrough. Spain struck first in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty to give his team a 1-0 lead at the break.

Spain continued to control proceedings in the second half. In the 58th minute, Pedro Porro added a second goal, further tightening Spain’s grip on the contest.

France tried to respond but could not break through Spain’s organised defence, finishing the match without a goal. The result sends Spain into the final, while France exit the tournament.

The second semi-final, scheduled later today, will see Argentina face England.
