Madurai/Chennai: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore on Monday said complaints about alleged “horse-trading” should be filed with the police along with evidence, and not taken to the Governor.
He said horse-trading refers to attempts to retain MLAs by offering money or positions. “If such incidents have occurred, a complaint must be lodged with proper proof. Approaching the Governor instead of the police is not right; it is political drama,” he said.
Tagore also alleged that the Governor has been creating “unnecessary pressure” on the Tamil Nadu government after returning from Delhi, where he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
On other issues, he said Karnataka politicians may try to politicise the Mekedatu issue, but Tamil Nadu parties should focus on the state’s welfare and present the state’s case without turning it into politics. He further accused the BJP-RSS of misusing the Ayodhya Ram temple hundi and said the Congress would raise the matter in the Lok Sabha.
Tagore claimed that AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran was responsible for reducing the AIADMK to its current state, and said the party would not have reached this situation if it had been united. He also said the Congress respects “Vande Mataram” and the national anthem, and criticised what he called “cheap politics” around the issue by Amit Shah and others.
