Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp complaint number to help the public report government officials who demand or take bribes.
According to a circular issued by Chief Secretary Sai Kumar to all departments, complaints can be sent to WhatsApp number 94981 80936. Complaints can also be filed via email at [email protected] and through phone lines 044-22321090, 044-22321085, 044-22310989, 044-22342142.
The circular directs all government departments, local bodies and public sector undertakings to ensure the complaint contact details are mandatorily published on their official websites.
It also instructs that every government office must prominently display information on where and how to report bribe demands. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) contact details must be displayed in both Tamil and English.
District Collectors and departmental secretaries have been asked to ensure compliance, while inspection cell officials in each district will verify implementation.
