A crowd crush was reported during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha, on Wednesday, leaving at least 200 people injured and admitted to hospitals.

The annual chariot festival drew a massive turnout, with more than 10 lakh devotees gathering in the city for the event. Authorities had strengthened security arrangements in view of the crowd.

Amid the procession, congestion built up and led to a crush situation. Officials said the injured were shifted to hospitals for treatment.

Several people reportedly experienced breathing difficulties and were provided first aid at the site before being moved for further care.
