Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP and actress Goyal Malik has resigned from her post within four months of being elected.
According to the report, the party has been facing setbacks after its Assembly election defeat, with leaders leaving and criticism being directed at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her relative Abhishek Banerjee.
A day earlier, senior TMC leader Madan Mitra also quit, adding to the pressure on the party leadership. Mamata Banerjee, however, has said she will work to rebuild the party and has continued to back Abhishek Banerjee.
Goyal Malik had won the recent Rajya Sabha election and took oath in May. She submitted her resignation letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan.
