Former DMK minister E.V. Velu appeared before the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Chennai on Tuesday morning and was questioned for about five hours, according to officials.

The inquiry relates to a DVAC case registered against Velu and 10 others over allegations that ₹3.23 crore was released to a company despite roads not being laid in Karur.

DVAC had issued a summons asking Velu to appear for an in-person inquiry. He complied and reported at the DVAC Director’s office in Alandur, Chennai, where the questioning was conducted.

After the session, Velu said officials asked him several questions and that he responded truthfully. He added that his statements were entered into a computer as part of routine procedure.

Velu also said he was ready to appear whenever called again, asserting that he had nothing to hide and no reason to fear the investigation.
