Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India is responding effectively to multiple challenges, pointing to the absence of any fuel shortage in the country during the West Asia war.
Speaking after inaugurating development projects in Haryana, Modi said the 20th century belonged to diesel and electric trains, while the 21st century is moving towards hydrogen-powered rail services. He described hydrogen trains as a major boost for the country and said dependence on diesel has reduced.
Modi noted that India has now shifted about 99% of its rail operations to electric traction. He said only a few countries globally have the capability to run hydrogen-powered trains, and added that the train designed in India uses domestic technology, reflecting the country’s growing strength in railways and technology.
The Prime Minister also referred to his recent visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, saying India concluded several agreements. He highlighted detailed discussions with the governments of Australia and New Zealand on sports, adding that future cooperation on sports and athlete training would benefit Haryana’s youth.
