DVAC officials conducted a surprise raid at the Coimbatore North Tahsildar office on Balasundaram Road on Thursday evening, uncovering alleged bribe transactions routed largely through online payments.
The team, led by ADSP Rajesh, began the inspection around 4.30 pm and searched office rooms as well as vehicles parked on the premises. Officials also questioned members of the public who were present at the office.
After checks, women staff and members of the public were allowed to leave around 7.30 pm. The raid continued beyond 10 pm, according to officials.
DVAC said it examined online payment applications and transaction details linked to staff, including the Deputy Tahsildar, Revenue Inspector, VAO, an engineer and an assistant. During the review, online transfers totalling Rs 7.5 lakh were found, and Rs 5,000 in cash was also recovered.
