New Delhi: Educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has said he will continue his protest despite doctors warning that his health has reached a critical stage.
The agitation is being led by an organisation called the Kagroch Janata Party, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities. The protest has been underway at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since June 20.
Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28, and three students are also fasting alongside him. The protest entered its 20th day on Friday.
Addressing supporters, Wangchuk said his body has weakened but his resolve remains firm. He reiterated that a peaceful march to Parliament is planned for July 20, the day the Monsoon Session begins.
He added that he would remain alive till July 20 “at any cost” to ensure the march takes place. Several leaders from different parties and prominent personalities have met the protesters and expressed support, according to the organisers.
