Chennai: With the Tamil Nadu budget set to be presented soon, the state government has instructed officials to go through, in full, the petitions submitted by participants during the recent budget consultations and work on implementing key requests.
A finance department official said feedback was collected from multiple stakeholder groups over three days starting July 14. Inputs were sought from industry representatives, micro, small and medium enterprises, and office-bearers of traders’ associations, among others.
During the consultations, representatives shared their views with ministers Mariyav Wilson, Arunraj, Lokesh Tamilselvan and Parves, as well as Finance Secretary Siddiq, and also submitted written petitions listing their demands.
As this is the first budget of the T.Ve.K. government, Chief Minister Vijay has asked that announcements be framed to benefit all sections of society. Officials have received around 80 petitions and senior finance department officers are reviewing them, consulting the secretaries of relevant departments.
Based on these discussions, budget announcements will be drafted. The official added that priority is being given to proposals that do not require large allocations.
