Minister Adhav on Friday said the government is taking steps to prevent child marriage and ensure education for girl children, stressing that women’s education is vital for the country’s development.
He made the remarks at the 26th summer festival held at Jamunamarathur in the Jawadhu Hills of Tiruvannamalai district. Tourism Minister Rajeshkumar and District Collector Vandana Garg were among those present.
Adhav said child marriage affects the lives of young girls and reiterated that the administration is working to stop the practice while supporting continued schooling.
He also said steps would be taken to issue land pattas to tribal residents in the Jawadhu Hills, and that measures have been initiated to provide additional schools and hospitals for hill communities in the region.
