Chennai Corporation Commissioner Sameeran has ordered the suspension of seven civic officials after a case was registered by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing, according to reports.
The action follows an inquiry in which some individuals reportedly produced documents to explain the source of money, including ATM withdrawals and funds raised through pledging jewellery. Officials who failed to clearly state the reason for receiving the money were booked by anti-corruption police.
The officials named in the case include Saravanan, Executive Engineer of the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar zone; Ravivarman, Assistant Executive Engineer; Saraswathi, Assistant Engineer; and Manikandan, Assistant Revenue Officer.
From the Teynampet zone, the case lists Sreeramalu, Superintendent; Manjeet Hussain, Health Officer; and Kothandam, Sanitation Supervisor. Further details of the allegations were not provided in the report.
