Advance bookings for ‘Jananayagan’, starring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, have opened across Tamil Nadu, ahead of the film’s scheduled release on July 23.
The film is being billed as Vijay’s final movie. It was expected to release before he entered the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, but the launch was delayed due to issues in obtaining the censor certificate.
With Vijay now having contested the election and taken office as Chief Minister, the film is set to hit theatres. Special show bookings in other states have already opened and closed, according to the report.
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, tickets for a 6 am special show were sold for up to Rs 1,800, and the shows reportedly sold out within hours of bookings opening.
Announcing the start of bookings in Tamil Nadu, production house KVN Production posted on X, saying, “Let the celebration begin, friends.” Fans are also expressing high expectations for the film’s box-office performance, citing its status as Vijay’s last film.
