Seven policemen have been suspended following an anti-corruption raid at police checkposts along the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border in Theni district.
The checkposts at Bodimettu, Mundal and Kumuly had faced complaints that vehicles carrying minerals and livestock were being allowed to pass without inspection after money was collected.
Based on these allegations, anti-corruption police conducted simultaneous checks at the district’s border checkposts on July 10. During the operation, officials seized Rs 35,000 in unaccounted cash.
Theni Superintendent of Police Praveen Gautam ordered the suspension of Mundal SSI Ganesan, Kumuly SSI Ayyappan, and constables Umanath, Bhaskar, Arul Anandam, Rajesh Kannan and Balamurugan in connection with the case.
