Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has removed Gnanasoundari, a Villupuram district advocate-wing joint secretary, after she filed a case against the government in the Madras High Court.
In her petition, Gnanasoundari alleged that bribes were being sought in the appointment of government advocates. She said she had applied for the post of Special Public Prosecutor in the Villupuram Mahila Court and for the post of Additional Government Criminal Prosecutor in the district principal and subordinate courts.
She further claimed that appointments were being made based on the recommendation of Minister Anand, and that sums ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 30 lakh were taken as bribes for such postings. She sought a stay on the appointment process for government advocates.
With the issue triggering controversy, TVK’s Villupuram South district secretary Mohanraj announced that Gnanasoundari has been removed from the party’s primary membership.
