Ford Motor Company is set to resume manufacturing operations in Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹3,250 crore, according to discussions held in Chennai on Sunday.
The company’s facility at Maraimalai Nagar in Chengalpattu district, which had been shut for the past few years, is proposed to be brought back into operation. As part of the plan, Ford intends to establish an engine manufacturing centre at the site, expected to create jobs for about 600 people.
A high-level delegation led by Ford Vice President Matthew Kotlewski met Chief Minister Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai. The talks covered the company’s production restart and its future expansion plans in the manufacturing sector.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured the delegation that the Tamil Nadu government would provide full cooperation for the upcoming production initiative. He also urged the company to utilise the plant to its full capacity while taking forward its manufacturing and expansion plans.
