New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for Parliament’s Monsoon Session to be “constructive” and focused on outcomes that benefit people, describing the sitting as important for India’s growth.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Modi said the country is in an era led by young people. Referring to the successful Vikram-1 mission, he said the achievement was delivered by a team whose average age is around 28, adding that it is “not the time” for those who describe themselves as young at 56.
Modi termed the Vikram-1 success a historic milestone and a matter of pride for Indians. He also pointed to the role of youth-led start-ups in delivering notable achievements and said India has set new benchmarks in the space sector, reflecting the country’s progress.
Highlighting broader developments, he said Indians are registering accomplishments across sectors, including the introduction of what he described as the world’s most powerful hydrogen train. Modi added that global confidence in India is rising and said the country handled challenges arising from the West Asia conflict effectively, without it derailing India’s development trajectory.
He also recalled that ahead of last year’s Monsoon Session, an Indian citizen reached the International Space Station, calling it a significant success and noting that only a few countries have seen such private-sector activity in space.
