Parliament’s monsoon session began on July 20 amid loud protests by opposition parties, leading to repeated disruptions in both Houses. The session is scheduled to run until August 13.
The opposition raised issues including the recent NEET question paper leak and alleged irregularities related to donations for the Ram temple. The protests quickly escalated into sloganeering and disorder.
In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla issued multiple warnings as opposition MPs continued their protests. With proceedings unable to continue, the House was first adjourned till noon and later adjourned for the entire day.
Similar scenes played out in the Rajya Sabha, where opposition members demanded a discussion on the same issues. The House was adjourned till noon, reconvened briefly, and then adjourned again, before being suspended for the day due to continued disruptions.
The BJP-led NDA government is expected to push several key bills during the monsoon session, but the opening day ended without business as both Houses remained stalled.
