Four Indian nationals were killed and another was seriously injured after a cargo vessel was attacked at Ukraine’s Odesa port, according to information cited by Indian authorities.
The incident comes amid an intensifying Russia–Ukraine war. The ship involved was the MV Golden Leo, a cargo vessel registered in Guyana–Bissau, which departed Odesa on July 19.
The vessel reportedly had 17 crew members on board, including five Indians. In the attack attributed to Russia, four Indians died and one sustained critical injuries.
The Union government condemned the incident and said Indian embassy officials in Ukraine are in touch with local authorities. It added that necessary assistance is being extended to those affected.
