Panama Foreign Minister Javier Eduardo has described India as an emerging superpower and voiced strong support for granting it a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
In an interview with ANI in New Delhi, Eduardo said the world today no longer reflects the realities of 80 years ago. He noted that India is the world’s largest democracy and argued that international institutions must expand to mirror present-day global conditions.
Stressing the need for UNSC reform, he said Panama supports India’s bid for permanent membership. He added that the UNSC should also provide permanent representation to Latin America and the Caribbean.
According to Eduardo, broader representation would enable more constructive and balanced dialogue on a wide range of international issues.
