UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced his new Cabinet after Keir Starmer resigned from the top post. In the reshuffle, Indian-origin MP Kanishka Narayan has been appointed as the United Kingdom’s first minister for artificial intelligence.
Burnham’s Cabinet includes John Healey as Finance Minister, Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary, Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary, Wes Streeting as Defence Minister, Yvette Cooper as Health Minister, Lucy Powell as Education Minister, and Angela Rayner as Housing Minister.
Kanishka Narayan was born in Bihar and moved to Cardiff during his childhood. He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford and later completed an MBA at Stanford University.
Narayan currently serves as a Member of Parliament. His appointment marks the creation of a dedicated AI ministerial role in the UK government.
