Police in Coimbatore have arrested four youths for allegedly driving a car in a dangerous and negligent manner on the Pollachi–Coimbatore National Highway.
The action followed a video that went viral on social media, showing three persons seated on the roof of a fast-moving car near the Kinathukadavu flyover. Police said the stunt endangered their lives and posed a threat and disturbance to other road users.
Acting on the directions of District Superintendent of Police Pavan Reddy, the Kinathukadavu police registered a case and traced the occupants of the vehicle.
The arrested persons were identified as Saravanakumar (24) of Peelamedu, Senthaya Perumal (24) of Ramanathapuram, Nirmalkumar (24) of Bharathi Nagar in Coimbatore, and Rahul Kumar (19) from Madurai. Police said a case has been booked under Crime No. 211/2026 with sections 281, 125 and 292 of the BNS read with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and the car has been seized.
