More than 50 families living along a roadside poramboke (government land) area at Karuppakkal Thottam in Pappanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, say they have been facing hardship for years.

According to the report, during the DMK government in 2010, road-related works linked to the World Classical Tamil Conference resulted in the acquisition of over 20 houses in the locality.

Residents say the impact of that action has continued, and they have been struggling for the past 16 years.

The issue has resurfaced in public attention through a Dinamalar TV video report highlighting the families’ situation in the area.
