Hindu Tamilar Katchi leader Rama Ravikumar has demanded a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the registration of land belonging to the Dhandapani Swamy Math in Palani, Dindigul district. He said he would approach the court seeking a CBI probe.
According to him, the CB-CID is currently searching for those involved in the alleged fraudulent registration. He said the Math’s trustee (thakkar) was the temple’s then Joint Commissioner, Marimuthu, who alone had full authority to take decisions on the matter.
Ravikumar said that when the disputed land was brought for registration on March 27, 2026, the then sub-registrar Palanisamy refused. He alleged that parties linked to Murugadas, along with buyers Vellathurai and Sethupathi, later obtained court permission on April 10, 2026 to register the land, after which the then Joint Commissioner did not act on the issue.
He also raised questions over the handling of the April 10 order, the subsequent complaint route taken through a temple land division official, and the sequence of events in early July 2026—when registration work began on July 3, the deed was registered and issued on July 6, and the Joint Commissioner’s promotion was confirmed on July 9. Citing technical safeguards in the registration system, he questioned how the registration could have proceeded and said a departmental inquiry while the CB-CID probe is ongoing is not appropriate.
