Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, who heads the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction in Maharashtra, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday (July 22). His daughter, Baramati MP Supriya Sule, was also present for the meeting.
The meeting comes amid reports and allegations in Maharashtra about attempts to draw opposition MPs and MLAs into rival camps, and continuing speculation over the internal split within the NCP.
Political circles have been abuzz with claims that Pawar could consider moving from the INDIA bloc towards the NDA. Sources also suggested that back-channel contacts with the BJP had intensified in recent weeks.
According to sources, the Delhi meeting involved political discussions and could pave the way for key decisions in the coming days.
