A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court objecting to the police lathi-charge on youth during a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi linked to the alleged NEET question paper leak issue.
According to the report, protesters were demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. As police attempted to stop the demonstration, tensions escalated and a clash broke out.
The situation turned violent after protesters allegedly hurled stones at the police. Police then dispersed the crowd using a lathi-charge and by firing tear gas shells.
On July 22, lawyers sought an urgent hearing before a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant. The court declined the request.
When lawyers attempted to show videos of youths being assaulted, the Chief Justice reportedly said the court had no time for such material and asked them not to waste the court’s time by playing videos.
