Tasmac has issued a circular banning the sale of bidis and cigarettes inside Tasmac liquor bars, according to an official communication released in Chennai.
The administration said the move is part of a series of new controls being introduced at Tasmac outlets. Steps are also being taken to prevent the collection of an additional Rs 10 per liquor bottle.
In the latest instructions, Tasmac warned that bars found selling bottled water or snacks at inflated prices could face sealing action. Contractors holding snack licences have been directed to display a price list prominently for customers.
The circular further stated that food items sold must comply with government rules and will be subject to food quality control checks. Only ISI-certified soft drinks and drinking water should be used.
It also instructed that easily flammable materials must not be kept inside bars, and that outlets should be opened only during the prescribed hours.
