New Delhi: Geetanjali, wife of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, has criticised the Congress party’s protest near the Prime Minister’s residence, calling it “dishonest”.
The remarks come amid protests linked to the alleged NEET question paper leak. A group marching towards Parliament was stopped by police, leading to a clash in which both police personnel and some protesters were injured.
Following allegations of police assault on protesters, Congress leaders staged a sudden protest near the Prime Minister’s residence. Senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were detained.
Geetanjali said the Congress should have protested alongside students at Jantar Mantar instead of demonstrating near the PM’s home. She alleged that politicians were trying to use the movement and harm Wangchuk’s reputation.
Stressing that the movement was not aligned with either the government or the opposition, she said Parliament is the highest institution and should treat education as a fundamental issue. She added that those coming with “personal agendas” would be ignored, and claimed the group had no links with political leaders.
