A 14-year-old government school student from Andhra Pradesh has been selected to join an international team of young science talents under the Mission ShakthiSAT programme.
Mission ShakthiSAT is a global initiative aimed at strengthening girls’ skills in science and space. The programme was created by Chennai-based space and defence start-up Space Kidz India, and drew participation from around 12,000 girls across 108 countries.
From this pool, 20 participants were chosen, including Kandula Jessie from Thavalaswaram in East Godavari district. Jessie’s father works as a carpenter, and she studies in a government school.
According to the programme details, Jessie successfully completed 550 training sessions covering challenging topics such as satellite systems, propulsion and thermodynamics.
Speaking about her journey, Jessie said she attended the classes consistently every day and believes hard work will help her achieve her dream of joining ISRO. She added that she wants to make her parents, teachers and school proud.
