Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the vision of building a developed India should evolve into a people’s movement, with the country’s youth forming its foundation.
He made the remarks during a review meeting at his residence in Delhi with officials from the rural development, agriculture, social welfare and allied departments.
Modi stressed that achieving national development targets requires a “whole-of-government” approach. He said reforms must keep citizens’ welfare at the centre, be designed around people’s needs, and deliver meaningful change—going beyond improving government functioning to accelerating India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
Noting that government institutions are undergoing rapid change, the Prime Minister called for strengthening administrative processes to meet evolving requirements. He also asked that emerging needs across ministries and departments be mapped in detail.
Modi flagged drug abuse among youth as a serious issue and urged better coordination of youth-focused initiatives across departments. He also called for an integrated approach to sports development, pointing to the growing attention on sports tourism and the need to host major international sporting events to position India as a global sports hub.
