Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader J P Nadda on Tuesday released a list of alleged exam paper leak incidents in states ruled by the Congress and its allies, responding to remarks made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi told reporters that question papers had leaked 152 times over the past 10 years, claiming the issue had affected 7.5 crore students. Nadda said the problem was not limited to any one government and cited instances from Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Telangana.
According to Nadda, a paper leak was reported in the Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board exam during the Congress–National Conference dispensation. He also referred to a Himachal Pradesh school board exam leak during a Congress government, leaks of Hindi and Science papers in Jharkhand under a Congress–JMM alliance, and language paper leaks in Telangana’s intermediate examinations.
Nadda accused Rahul Gandhi of using students’ concerns for political gain and said the focus should be on improving the education system and ensuring justice for students. He called for a constructive discussion to examine the causes, identify those responsible, and consider how the Centre should respond when such incidents occur.
He said the government was ready for a short or extended debate in the Rajya Sabha, leaving the duration to be decided by the opposition. Nadda also said a meeting with CJBP representatives was held in a constructive atmosphere and that their demands were heard and received in writing.
